Bradford & Sons lands another acquisition

Historic builders’ merchant Bradford and Sons has acquired a roof truss manufacturing and contract tiling company in Norfolk.

The Yeovil-headquartered business, which dates back to the 18th century and has turnover of £135m, has bought Aspect East Anglia for an undisclosed sum. The management and staff of the Norfolk-based business are to join the Bradfords group.

The deal will enable Bradford and Sons to expand the business to new areas of the UK and increase its market share. Exeter-based Isca Ventures advised on the deal and Smith & Williamson provided due diligence.

Andrew Merriam, executive chairman of the Bradfords Group, said: “We are pleased to announce the acquisition of Aspect East Anglia and are delighted to welcome their management and staff to the Bradfords Group.

“The acquisition will strengthen our existing timber engineering and manufacturing businesses by providing an opportunity to expand geographically and the potential to gain a larger share of the market.”

“We are delighted to have acted as lead advisor on this transaction and help deliver this acquisition for our long standing client, Bradford and Sons.” added Stuart Crebo, partner at Isca Ventures.

The relationship with the partners at Isca Ventures has been ongoing for a number of years and we are pleased to have completed numerous acquisitions with their team.  Our Board value their proactive advice, transaction support and innovative approach.
